Producer and musician Tim Simenon of Bomb the Bass is known to create a great flow throughout an album that hooks the listener. The new Bomb the Bass album, Back To Light, offers few new hits for fans, and fails to develop a sound that others may be searching for.
The overall sound of the album was boring and repetitive, even for a set of house dance beats. The first single released by BTB, “The Infinities,” is the strongest track because it stands out as one of few with a different sound. The track features an up-beat tempo and somewhat dramatic overtones. “X-Ray Eyes” and “Price On Your Head” are some of the best songs on the album, but set the bar a little too high. The remainder of the CD lacks creativity and innovation and is a difficult listen.
Despite collaborating with well-known artists such as Paul Conboy and Martin Gore, the album did not stand out in many ways.
Regrettably the style introduced by the previous album, Future Chaos, is hard to find on the new release, which may disappoint some fans. Listeners may find it difficult to listen to the final track, “Milakia” (featuring Gore), but it is a fitting end. At least it has a badass album cover.
